A meritocracia como ferramenta do modelo neoliberal: uma ideia que inviabiliza a justiça social

In this article, we tried to demonstrate the deficits of a State based on the idea of merit. Showing that the diffusion of the neoliberal model has not reflected in the guarantee of social justice, but in the destitution of the common good, figuring the meritocratic idea as an instrument designed by the neoliberal model for the maintenance of capitalism. Making it clear that this State model does not focus its attention on social agendas, spreading a meritocratic discourse dissociated from reality and, therefore, legitimizing inequalities. This is why the rescue of the welfare state, which is increasingly weakened, becomes essential, with the emergence of a change to an economic model in which the state operates more actively, in order to provide for the realization of justice, in a way of overlapping the right to human dignity over the right to property. The dissimulation supported by the idea of merit, in which indifference based on individual responsibility thrives, cannot continue, since this way of thinking the State has not implied in social advances, but in the corruption of the notion of the social in aspects of cooperation.
