The urban forestry has great importance in the urban centers as it nears the normal environmental conditions with the environment. However the lack of planning in its implementation and maintenance eventually affects their efficiency. This study aimed to evaluate the awareness and awareness of residents of Palm Garden, Cuiabá, about urban tree planting, to obtain information about the needs, criticisms, suggestions to support the development of future environmental management plans and public policies the sector. Data were obtained through the application of a questionnaire with ten objective questions and open type questions, which were dialogued with the locals in order to detect the concerns and opinions about the urban forestry. After the interviews conducted, it was carried out, tabulation and analysis of data. The results indicated that 40% of respondents rated the neighborhood as fairly wooded and 76.92% recognize the advantage of urban trees providing the shade. But among the disadvantages observed 53.84% of the Palm Garden neighborhood population, said they would be dirt on the streets and sidewalks. It is noticed that there was no planning for afforestation by the competent bodies and have also received an inefficiency of maintaining it.
