The low levels of crime resolution and the consequent increase in society's sense of impunity demonstrate an inefficiency of the Public Security organs in the investigation of criminal offenses, and among those solved, it's common for a lack of material evidence to definitively support the Authorship of the offense, and the trial is often based only on the witnessing evidence and the confession of the accused. It is in this context that criminal expertise plays a fundamental role, as the segment responsible for the production of physical evidence, which uses as it is source the technical-scientific knowledge and the technological innovations available. The investigated question focused on: which guidelines should orient the decision making to preserve the crime scene, so as to enable the production of a quality material test. We opted for the analysis of a hypothetical case study equivalent to some real scenarios regarding the isolation and preservation of crime sites, constructed from a documentary research in conjunction with content analysis, focusing on some occurrences of service of the Criminal Officials of the State of Mato Grosso and situations reported in informal dialogues. The general objective of this work was to analyze the consequences of the absence of adequate isolation and preservation in crime scenes during the expert survey. The result was a review of recommendations for all those who encounter crime sites and who carry out some activity before the expert team, in order to guide decision making to keep the site preserved, which will contribute significantly to the Production of the material evidence and sometimes the discovery of crime authorship.
