Diabetes Mellitus is a chronic disease that affects a large part of the population, in particular the elderly. The aim of this study was to characterize the association between Diabetes Mellitus II and the health conditions of the elderly. A prospective, cross - sectional, exploratory, quantitative study that included 235 elderly people who were followed up at fifteen Family Health Units in the city of Barra do Garças - MT, having a medical diagnosis for chronic diseases not transmissible CDNT and its comorbidities. The data were collected between April and September 2017. For the data collection, the following questionnaires were used through interview: free and informed consent term; identification of the Elderly in the Family Health Unit; sociodemographic profile; characterization of the economic profile of the elderly; assessment of health conditions and reliability and validity of the assessment of the diabetes scale. Statistical analysis was performed using the statistical package SPSS version 23, adopting a level of significance of 5% (p < 0,05). Of the 235 elderly people interviewed, there was a predominance of women (63.8%), between 60 and 69 years (51.5%), literate (68.1%), married or together (52.3%), (93%), religious (92.8%) and engaged in social activities (62.2%), Retirees, (79.1%) do not work (77.4%), when they need help they are assisted mainly by a household (70.2%). High prevalence of CDNT but health as regular. Older people who had Diabetes Mellitus II reported that it was disturbing to have diabetes followed by disruption to life, interfering with health conditions. In view of this, the planning of actions aimed at health promotion, prevention and early diagnosis are important, together with a better follow-up of the diabetic patient, reflecting positively on health conditions.
