This monograph seeks a dialogue between quilombola school education and the pedagogy of Anísio Teixeira. The relationship between these models of education is interesting because, in both, there is an explicit attempt at a national education that is much closer to us, to our reality and to what Brazilian students need in basic education. Like Anísio Teixeira, quilombola school education determines a school that articulates knowledge both in its theoretical form and in its practical form that is, in both models of education, there is an interest in promoting a teaching where students reach, the knowhow, and this know-how goes beyond theoretical content in classrooms. In these educational systems, it is still necessary for the student to have the practice of life in society within the school – what Anísio calls “real life habits”. Another consensus between progressive pedagogy and quilombola education is the position that schools should work regionally with managers and teachers from the community in which the school is located. In the first moment of this monograph, I deal with Quilombola School Education, making reflections with Resolution No. 8 of November 20, 2012, a document that defines the educational guidelines for Quilombola education, then I present the educational model of Anísio Teixeira, the father of the Brazilian public school. Throughout the work I relate the two models of education, noting that both could radically transform the lives of students if put into practice in our schools across the country.
