Currently, sport is a social trainer, bringing health, well-being, and social integration. However, there are several buildings with projected sports use, which affects the intended use. Thus, the present research aimed to verify the procedures and techniques that best suit the development of the renovation project of the athletics track at the Federal University of Mato Grosso - Campus Araguaia, as a way to encourage the safety of the university's sports area. For that, bibliographical research was used allied to field research as a data collection method. From the analysis of the data, it was possible to understand the ways to obtain an assertive result in the decision making for the definition of the architectural proposal, delivering a final result with the presence of buildings that simultaneously allow the practice of contemplation, physical sports activities, and leisure. It should be noted the collection of data from the development and field phase, the use of computer programs designed for the purpose, as well as the study of the local climate, relief, Brazilian, and sports standards, were essential in the elaboration of the projected efficiency project. Important factors such as health and safety were also highlighted, in addition to the most popular sports in local society and ways of expressing the project, which would overcome the restrictions imposed by the terrain and its particularities. Finally, through all the studies carried out and the results, it was possible to affirm that a suitable place allows the practice of sport safely and also promotes health and the integration of the local society.
