Decomposition of Gliricidia sepium phytomass in different land occupation systems ABSTRACT: This study aimed to evaluate the dynamics of the decomposition of the leaf fraction of Gliricidia sepium in different land use and management systems. The research was developed in three land use systems: agroforestry system (AFS), mandala and pasture. The method used to quantify the decomposition of leaf phytomass was nylon bags “litter bags”, collected every seven days, for a period of 56 days. The remaining mass (g), constant of the decomposition (k) and the half-life (T½) of the leaf material were taken. The statistical design used was the randomized integer following the factorial scheme 3 × 8 (systems × periods), with three replications. There was a significant isolated effect only for the evaluation periods. The decomposition rate varied between 0.0087 and 0.0041 g g-1 day and the T½ in 79 and 165 days, since the decomposition curve indicated that the loss of leaf phytomass in the first 20 days of evaluation was relatively between systems. The decomposition rate and the half-life of the leaf material were more expressive in the soil under AFS. Keywords: microbial activity; environmental conditions; serapilheira. |
