PORTRAIT OF THE PRESENT LICENSING COURSES IN MATHEMATICS IN THE NORTH REGION OF BRAZIL

Resumo: | The study on screen aimed to elaborate an overview of the Mathematics Degree courses, in the face-to-face modality, offered in the Northern region of Brazil. It consists of a documentary research, developed based on the qualitative research approach and based on the Microdata of the Higher Education Census 2018. It was found with the research that there was, in 2018, in the North region: 58 undergraduate courses in Mathematics, in the face-to-face modality (20 in Pará, 19 in Amazonas, 5 in both the states of Rondônia and Tocantins, and 03 in each of the states of Acre, Amapá and Roraima); located in all capitals and in some cities in the interior of the states; offered by 19 public institutions, responsible for 53 courses, and by 5 private institutions, with 5 courses; some old ones, dating from 1954, and others recent, created in 2017. It was also observed that these courses met the demand of the North region for the vacancies offered and occupied and that their graduating students represented 10% of the total of graduating students in Brazil. In addition, it was found that these courses have not yet managed, in their entirety, to reformulate their Pedagogical Projects in compliance with the laws in force on initial teacher training, specifically regarding the minimum workload and the mandatory offer of the Libras curriculum component. |

Consiste em uma pesquisa documental, desenvolvida com base na abordagem de investigação qualitativa e que se pautou nos Microdados do Censo da Educação Superior 2018. Com a investigação, constatou-se que havia, em 2018, na região Norte: 58 cursos de Licenciatura em Matemática, na modalidade presencial (20 no Pará, 19 no Amazonas, 5 em ambos os estados de Rondônia e Tocantins e 03 em cada um dos estados do Acre, Amapá e Roraima), localizados em todas as capitais e em algumas cidades do interior desses estados; ofertados por 19 instituições públicas, responsáveis por 53 cursos, e por 5 instituições privadas, com 5 cursos; alguns antigos, datando de 1954, outros recentes, como um criado em 2017. Também foi observado que esses cursos atenderam à demanda da região Norte quanto às vagas ofertadas e ocupadas e que seus alunos concluintes representaram 10% do total de concluintes no Brasil.
