ENTOMOLOGICAL BOXES AS A TEACHING RESOURCE FOR SCIENCE TEACHING IN THE EARLY YEARS OF ELEMENTARY SCHOOL I

Carrying out practical activities in Science Teaching in Basic Education, especially in the early years of Elementary Education, still presents some precarious conditions, either due to lack of school structure, or lack of material, or due to teacher preparation, or another. Faced with this gap, this research aimed to investigate the contributions that the assembly and use of entomological boxes bring to Science Teaching in Elementary School I of Basic Education. With a qualitative character, the study consisted of collecting insects and using them in a Science class with the production, by the participating students, of an entomological box. It was composed of 19 specimens of insects. The main locus of the research was the Biodiversity and Conservation Laboratory (LABICON), of the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Pará – (IFPA), Campus Abaetetuba, which has an entomological collection for teaching and scientific purposes. The results point to the involvement and interest of students in carrying out the activity, active participation of students in the teaching and learning process, approximation between theory and practice, as well as acceptance and teaching perspectives for the use of the material produced. With this, we point out the efficiency of this methodological resource in Science Teaching, requiring, however, that teachers take ownership of experiences and concepts related to the theme, contextualize the theme with subjects inherent to the experiences of students and seek continuing education that helps them to increase of the diversification and interdisciplinarity of its classes.
