Resumo: The contributions of local knowledge and practices to the redesign of the initial training of Chemistry teachers are based on the general competences of Basic Education, which seeks to value the diversity of cultural experiences, knowledge and experiences linked to the students' context. This research was developed with the objective of presenting a regional theme to think about and constructing an initial training proposal to meet the real needs of the Amazon region, promote improvements in the curriculum, guarantee the students' right to learning, recognize regional specificities, encourage a diversified curriculum that not only values and recognizes differences, but that includes cultural diversity in training spaces, which has its own physiognomy, with a predominance of indigenous elements, mixed with black and European characters and whose main actor is the caboclo, resulting from miscegenation of the Indian with the white, and whose cultural force originates in the form of articulation with nature. To meet one of the principles of scientific investigations, we chose, in relation to the approach, the qualitative and descriptive research that support the methodological procedure. This study was carried out in the undergraduate course in Chemistry CESP/UEA and in the field-internship schools, having as protagonists of the process of redesigning the initial training of Chemistry teachers in the Amazon, teachers who train teachers, graduate students, regent teachers, students of education and people who have information about cultural knowledge.
