This article was motivated by the discipline Methodology and Practice of Teaching in Sciences and Environmental Education, developed with the graduates of the Course of Pedagogy of the University Estácio da Amazônia, that aimed to investigate the environmental impacts caused by the action of the man in Igarapé Grande, situated in the urban area of ​​Boa Vista, capital of Roraima. The research is qualitative and descriptive in nature. The data were collected during a technical visit in June 2018 by the licensees, with the purpose of performing the environmental diagnosis of the site and then identifying the critical points of the area. The results shows a great abasement and destruction in the banks and in the bed of the stream, constant aggressions caused by several human actions, mainly by the installation of the stabilization pond near the riverbank margin and the growth of inadequate housing on the banks of the igarapé bed, which harm this natural environment and point to the requirement for public policies that change this reality.
