The Sociology of Sport is increasingly an instrument that enables the understanding of social dynamics based on sports relations. This research seeks to understand how social conditions permit the appropriation of different sporting goods, and what demands mean that people now have a taste for American Football, practiced in the city of Cuiabá, Mato Grosso, as a practice or as spectacle . Such study is based on the framework of the Pierre Bourdieu's Sport Sociology and Norbert Elias, but also authors linked to sport studies in a sociological perspective that aims to understand the culture and the sport nowadays. Seeks to address the relationship between sports culture of the city of Cuiabá / MT and the pursuit of social space related to the sport of American origin, the American Football. West work is based on a methodological qualitative. Such as research hypothesis, based on the sociology of Pierre Bourdieu's sport, it is suggested that the possible failure to identify with local sports, and the need for differentiation of social position led to the emergence of a group interested in pursuing a foreign sport, and that this sport is closely linked with values and desires of a given class, there is thus a homology between sporting tastes and social status. In conclusion, the sport, or the choice of a particular sports activities, it is connected with the social aspects of the social class to which the individual belongs. The results can be seen that the practice of American Football, started synchronously, then the team becomes diachronic, opening in one direction provided by the sports spectacle.
