This study is directed primarily to an analysis of the sedition of May 30, 1834 held in Cuiabá, which later became known as "Swoop" - this is a nativist movement, with motivations ranging from a biased ethnic, political and the economic. At the same time, through this study we intend to outline the repercussions that this uprising has provided. For purposes of analysis, the conception of power relations that involve human life, was central. In this sense, the investigation was based on discussion and reflection about the changes that triggered this event, especially in the power set out in the province of Mato Grosso, and the lives of some participants of this sedition. Thus, elected the theoretical concepts of the French philosopher Michel Foucault, for theoretical support. The intention to use this thinker was to provide elements that allow a different approach this event.
