The dissertation presented falls within the line of research work and socialization of PPGPS - master level - UFMT and aims to analyze the effectiveness of the Service of Living and Strengthening Links for the Elderly (SCFVI) in the Reference Center for Social Assistance (CRAS) of the Sinop / MT Regional Pole. Demographic censuses have shown an increase in the elderly population, which reaches 14 million Brazilians over 60 years of the total population nationwide and in the northern region of Mato Grosso aging follows the same course, with 16,537 elderly people, constituting 8,658 males and 7,879 females. This demographic transition and the extension of old age impelled the political organization of social assistance services based on the Organic Law on Social Assistance (LOAS), the Social Assistance Policy (PNAS), the Unified Social Assistance System (SUAS) and the Typification of Services Social Assistance for the Elderly, with the prerogatives of ensuring and expanding social rights, guaranteed in the Federal Constitution of 1998. In this sense, the SCFV developed through the CRAS must maintain articulation with the Service for Protection and Comprehensive Care for the Family (PAIF) and other instances of social protection and public policies so that older people are served from the perspective of integrality. To this end, it sought out renowned authors who work on the policy and the respective Service, verifying its organization and aspects that made it possible to analyze how it has been carried out within the scope of the sample of six municipalities among the fourteen that are a constituent part of the Sinop Regional Pole. Therefore, he counted on bibliographic research and interviews based on indicators that made it possible to answer the study proposal. Thus it was decided to proceed with the historical reconstruction of the aging process, followed by the Social Assistance Policy supported by LOAS, PNAS, Basic Operational Standard of the Unified Social Assistance System - NOB / SUAS / 2012 with a focus on SCFVI. The accomplishment of the investigation allowed to make approximations of the policy and reality in the organization and operationalization of the SCFVI in the studied pole and to verify that in spite of the advances in the Formal Legal Framework, the Social Assistance Policy and in particular the SCFVI finds far below the proposal resulting from wide complex of variables that intertwine with each other, making it difficult to implement and therefore constituting challenges to be overcome.
