O mal-estar hipermoderno : uma vertente na poesia de Marilza Ribeiro

This study analyzes the aesthetic resources that grant lyricism to Marilza Ribeiro’s poems, one of the most recognized representatives of contemporary Mato Grosso poetry, and addresses the inconsistencies in human relations of her time. In the first chapter, poems which embody the individual's discomfort expression, marked by individualism, consumerism and narcissism were selected. In the second chapter, the research focuses on the analysis of metalinguistic poems that demonstrate an ethical attitude of the individual in the world being taken by means of artistic activity, as a way of reacting to this discomfort. The study was conducted through formal stylistic analysis, with the support of the sociological theories of Lipovetsky (2004, 2005) and Bauman (1998, 2001, 2007) in relation to the changes that have taken place in society since the advent of Modernity to the present time, which Lipovetsky calls “Hypermodernity”. The research is also based on the reflections of Freud on narcissism, in addition to the Adorno considerations concerning the reification resulting from a capitalist way of life. Thus, the present study aims at investigating the way Ribeiro's poetry draws up the community discomfort regarding their time through their ability to recreate in poetic discourse the subjectivities of the hypermodern individual.
