The central theme of this research was based on the production of electric energy in Rondônia with the use of the water potential of the Madeira River with the construction of the Santo Antônio and Jirau Hydroelectric Plants. It is a contemporary and tumultuous theme. In this central issue, an odd number of subjects were found, living history at every moment and suffering its consequences. The sources used in this study were official documents obtained directly from the websites of the companies surveyed. The Alto Madeira newspaper is of immense relevance, as it was from there that photographs, information, graphics, advertisements and readers' opinions were extracted. All of this contributed, in a broad aspect, to the details of the information contained in this work. The importance of this research is based on the commitment to reality and respect for data obtained from official digital platforms and bibliographic research. No information has been distorted for the pleasure of fitting in or justifying an opinion. The reliability of data and historical facts shows how Rondônia is an interesting state for research. Its history is rich and full of details. Regarding the contributions that the research will bring, they focused on spreading the history of the state of Rondônia in general and in specific aspects, highlighting the process of formation of the municipalities until the construction of large energy projects to retain the people on earth , to analyze the economic and population growth of the state and, finally, to understand the reasons that led Rondônia to be elevated to an electric granary in national scope. This dissertation was divided into four chapters and subtopics. As for the social aspect, the real needs of how to have a place to live, how to eat and have minimum conditions to maintain health was put in a level of the future, of illusion. In the end, everything is just a great game of economic interest masked by good intentions, but it leaves its trail of destruction for the subjects who need to continue to survive in their place, even if their living environment is no longer like anything else. your previous identity. That said, disregarding human beings in any aspect of the environmental discussion is a great insanity. And that was the mirror used when it involved a lot of money involved, as is the case with the large energy projects in Santo Antônio and Jirau, on the Madeira River.
