The present study aims to analyze the legal protection of the work environment as a content inherent to the principle of the social function of the company and sustainable development, in order to advance in the search for instruments and models to densify and to give greater consistency to the legal protection of the worker, the social function of the company and the business sustainability. In the meantime, it is proposed to discuss sustainability as a paradigm to be implemented by companies, with the objective of ensuring an effective protection of the balanced labor environment. To this end, this study was divided into three chapters, each focusing on a relevant aspect of the theme. Initially, the contours given to the concept of company were analyzed, by adopting the current Civil Code of Company Theory. Then, it investigates the functionalization of the company that goes from the social function of the property to the principle of the social function of the company. The second chapter addresses the fundamental right to the work environment, describing the national and international protective mosaic that deals with the protection of the work environment and the safeguarding of the guiding principle of the Brazilian legal system, which is the principle of human dignity. The third chapter deals with the principle of sustainable development, going through its international protection, and its path in the constitutional text. The third chapter also examines how protecting the work environment is covered by the principles of the company's social function and sustainable development. In the end, the sustainable management model, based on John Elkington's Triple Bottom Lines theory, assists in a broader protection of the work environment, through its integration with the social, environmental and economical pillars of development. To carry out this research, the deductive method and the qualitative approach were adopted. The technical procedures used were bibliographic and documentary survey.
