The foundation is a vital element for a building. Responsible for building a sustainable, supporting the entire load of the slabs, walls, beams and columns. Therefore, it is essential to know what kind of soil will support a building, to prevent future problems difficult to solve and high cost. In Brazil, the vast majority of investigations of the soil is held by the writings of SPT. Since its inception until the present day this essay has suffered almost continuous evolution. This feature associated with its simplicity, robustness and ease of application of the results, ensured its popularity. However, on one hand allows the popularization of the refinement process, on the other, is a fertile path for companies and professionals lacking capacity step into this market. Disqualification of the companies, and operators responsible for carrying out the tests put the SPT colliding with good engineering practices. This collision has caused serious damage to buildings ranging from the super sizing of the building to collapse. It is necessary to evolve. Thus, there is a need to certify companies that provide drilling the percussion type SPT according to the standards of engineering techniques in order to provide a reference to the market.
