Resumo: | This research analyzes female education, offered at the Maria Auxiliadora Domestic School of Cuiabá, EDMA, from 1951 to 1965. The training in the school institution under study aimed to train girls for home activities. The timeframe, demarcated for the study, begins in 1951 when EDMA was founded and ends in 1965, the year in which, in compliance with the new teaching rules and standards, the institution ceased to be an exclusive home school for girls, and began to offer the Supplementary Primary Course for men and women. We aim to investigate the formation of women in the Maria Auxiliadora Domestic School of Cuiabá, in order to understand how the education for women was established within a Catholic confessional school from 1951 to 1965, as well as to analyze how the home schooling took place for girls at EDMA. The sources consulted were: ecclesiastical yearbook, nominal final exam report, minute books, school statute, report on school activities, letters from the Salesian Women's Province, newspapers, photographs and decrees. The documents used in the analysis were collected in various collections: Cuiabá Metropolitan Curia Archive, Mato Grosso State Public Archive (APMT), Private Collection of the Missionary Institute of Bom Jesus in Várzea Grande, Our Lady of Peace Institute, located in Coxipó da Ponte in Cuiabá, Maria Auxiliadora Educational Center (CEMA), Cuiabá, Memory Institute of the Legislative Assembly of the State of Mato Grosso, Cuiabá among others. Authors such as Marc Bloch (2002), Paolo Nosella and Ester Buffa (2009), made it possible to understand that it is necessary to walk the historical paths to understand the interior of school institutions and their practices. The theoretical studies by Justino Pereira de Magalhães (2004), Carlo Ginzburg (1989) helped to understand that it is possible to analyze aspects of the daily life of a school institution and find signs that allow us to know the events and events through sources on which the studies are based. . Michelle Perrot (2017), Jane Soares de Almeida (1998), Guacira Lopes Louro (2003), among other authors contributed to analyze the history of female education. Nilce Vieira Campos Ferreira (2012, 2014) brought subsidies for understanding teaching in the home economy. The analysis of the sources led to the conclusion that the teaching offered at the Maria Auxiliadora Cuiabá Domestic School was systematized and influenced by conservative religious principles and EDMA, a private confessional school institution, offered a training for women focused on home care and with the family. |
