Resumo: | This thesis entitled "Liu Arruda: the crossing of a cuiabano buffoon, under the inspiration of Augusto Boal”, was developed during the course of PhD in Education (PPGE / UFMT), enrolled in knowledge built by the Researcher Group in Environmental Education, Communication and Art (GPEA) UFMT. It aimed to study the 1980s in Cuiaba, particularly embracing the cultural, educational, environmental and aesthetic issues to consider them inseparable and interrelated, including the global, taking as reference the theatre practiced by Liu Arruda, whose political intervention was supported by an artistic proposal of Augusto Boal, and caused strong impact on cuiabano people. This questioning by the following: was the theatre intervened on the reality of Cuiaba in the 1980s; and what its contributions to environmental education? Reading and reflection were made mainly from the phenomenology of Gaston Bachelard, it emphasizes that the researcher must leave the contemplation of himself to meet the other, and replacing the closed and static knowledge to the open and dynamic understanding. The concepts of participatory research designed by Carlos Brandão, are also referenced to defend the participation of the investigator. The researcher, consequently, assumes to be political, social and ideological commitment to the issues of his time, and changing the traditional subject-object relationship by subject-subject. The results reveal that the theatre is a powerful language that enables the expansion and participation, able to generate individual and social, in which people feel belonging to their community and regain their identity as citizens and planetary citizens, engaging in responsibility and care for all forms of life. Therefore, science, human and environment complement each other, enriching our reflections, stimulating militants and ideological actions, raising awareness, allowing us to express our emotions, offering tactics to fight for our right to dream. |

Therefore, science, human and environment complement each other, enriching our reflections, stimulating militants and ideological actions, raising awareness, allowing us to express our emotions, offering tactics to fight for our right to dream.
