Fatores associados à vulnerabilidade em idosos atendidos pela Estratégia Saúde da Família

To assess the prevalence of vulnerability and associated factors in elderly patients by the Family Health Strategies in the city of Varzea Grande – Mato Grosso. Methods: It is a cross-sectional study conducted with 377 elderly. The dependent variable, the vulnerability, was investigated through The Vulnerable Elders Survey (VES-13). The independent variables were the sociodemographic variables and health conditions (assessed by the validated instruments: Mini Mental State Examination - MMSE, the Scale of Katz, the Scale of Lawton, The Geriatric Depression Scale - GDS-15 and Mini-Assessment of Nutritional ReductionMANR). Results: 49.07% of seniors are vulnerable. Higher prevalence of vulnerability has been associated with the dependency on AIVD (RP = 4.43, CI95%, 2.91, -6.76), to be identified with depressive symptoms (RP = 1.34, CI95%, 1.14 -1.57) and to be aged 80 years old and over (RP = 1.34, CI95%, 1.11 -1.61). Conclusion: The prevalence of vulnerability found in this study was high when compared with other studies with the elderly of the community.
