The dissertation investigates the presence of bioethics and biolaw disciplines in law courses at Higher Education Institutions in Rio Grande do Sul, focusing on their curricular integration and analysis of the National Curriculum Guidelines. Through bibliographic review and documentary analysis, the study highlights the importance of this integration in shaping a new generation of lawyers aware of the interconnection between law, ethics, and social and environmental responsibility, ensuring the effectiveness of the social function of law. Additionally, it explores variations in how these disciplines are taught, including their inclusion as mandatory or elective subjects. The teaching of these disciplines promotes a humanistic and responsible approach, empowering students to deal with complex issues related to scientific and technological advancements, as well as to address emerging ethical dilemmas in the contemporary legal context, related to all forms of life and individual freedoms. However, significant challenges are identified due to the limited presence of these disciplines in curricula, highlighting the need for constant updating of legal curricula and teaching methods. In summary, the inclusion of biolaw and bioethics in law courses represents not only a response to contemporary demands, but also a transformation in the academic training of legal professionals, promoting a culture of peace, justice, and preservation of life in all its forms. Therefore, by embracing the teaching of bioethics and biolaw, law courses are preparing their students to be not only competent professionals but also sensitive and reflective agents of change in an ever-evolving society.
