Resumo: If something becomes laughable for nothing, for simple nonsense, contradicting expectations, the ridicule imposes a dialectics. What appears ridicule is not only laughable, but also ascribes a value to itself, even the opposite, and behaves as if it was a gift. The laughable is the fl eeting, pure appearance. When attributing to itself a value, on the contrary, the ridicule raises a pretension to recognition, and by doing it, grants us the premise from which a pedagogic function is attributed to comedy. Reflections like that are here developed starting from the texts of Molière, especially, The Precious Young Maidens.

O risível é o fugaz, puro aparecimento. Ao atribuir-se valor, o ridículo, pelo contrário, nos levanta uma pretensão de reconhecimento, e ao fazê-lo, nos concede a premissa a partir da qual uma função pedagógica atribui-se à comédia.
