Resumo: This paper intends to study the mail exchanged between Curt Lange and Camargo Guarnieri in 1934 and 1935. A triple investigation was privileged: the letter as language, as sociability constituting instrumental tool, and as a strategy for power. Through these epistles the relevance of Curt Lange’s performance emerges from the advertisement of the 20th century Brazilian Music, as well as the diversifi ed production of composers, musicians and interpreters in the musical setting of that time.
