Resumo: The main objective of this article is to problematize the commemorative narratives published by the Bolsonaro government on the anniversaries of the civil-military coup of 1964, questioning the permanence of revisionist and negationist elements about the Brazilian military dictatorship. The analysis is centered on the Orders of the Day published by the Ministry of Defense on March 31, between the years 2019 and 2022. The results show that the revisionist narrative present in the Orders of the Day is based on discursive structures that began to be built in the coup and the Brazilian military dictatorship. Among the arguments evoked, there is an emphasis on popular support, anti-communist rhetoric and a positive reworking of the dictatorial past, omitting violence and political persecution. Furthermore, the preeminence given to the Amnesty Law as a “pacifying pact” and the emphasis on understanding the dictatorship “in its own historical context” articulates the desire for closure of the authoritarian past and the promotion of oblivion.
