Departamento de História, Instituto de Ciências Humanas e Sociais, Universidade Federal de Ouro Preto.A pesquisa investigou as repúblicas federais de Ouro Preto-MG a partir do movimento estudantil organizado na cidade, principalmente em torno das disputas centradas na expansão do acesso à moradia. Durante a emergência de lutas estudantis, no período de 1975 a 1983, considerado o início da abertura política para a democracia, uma das pautas regionais estava alocada justamente na exigência por mais moradias e por dinâmicas democráticas dentro delas. Evidenciamos que a história das repúblicas federais está associada à história da Escola de Minas e da UFOP, alicerçadas em uma rede de influências entre os alunos, ex-alunos e as instituições. Foi durante a abertura política, que coincidiu com a expansão da UFOP, que o status dessas casas começou a ser questionado de forma organizada pelos estudantes. Por meio da realização de entrevistas, da análise de matérias de jornais e da pesquisa nos arquivos pessoais detentores de fotos e correspondências de ex-alunos militantes na tendência, mostramos que a discussão em torno das políticas de gestão e de acesso às moradias estudantis esteve presente na pauta do movimento estudantil em Ouro Preto-MG, concomitantemente à expansão das casas e à expansão da própria universidade. A principal organização política analisada em nosso trabalho é o “Libelu”, apelido atribuído à “Liberdade e Luta”, organização estudantil que esteve atuante em Ouro Preto-MG nos anos 1970-1980. Em entrevistas realizadas com antigos quadros da tendência, narramos algumas especificidades e os posicionamentos do grupo, considerado, dentro do movimento estudantil, como uma tendência radical e que teve fundamental agência, principalmente na Escola de Farmácia, para a organização política dos estudantes da UFOP nas greves do período. Discutimos alguns aspectos da militância estudantil e da atuação política durante o período ditatorial do Brasil, com a análise de elementos como o medo, a opressão, o preconceito e as desigualdades sociais, encarados como elementos essenciais para a reflexão sobre as ações políticas. Metodologicamente, o trabalho também foi narrado em conjunto com elementos da experiência pessoal da narradora, por entender que essa trajetória está associada à escrita e ao trabalho historiográfico. Dessa forma, por meio da exposição do espírito da historiadora que compõe essa narrativa, buscamos conferir-lhe inteligibilidade.This research has investigated the federal student republics of Ouro Preto-MG with the view of the student movement organized in the city, specially around the disputes centered on the expansion of habitations. During the emergence of student struggles, in the period of 1975 to 1983, considering the start of the political opening towards democracy, the regional schedules of those movements was allocated precisely on the demand for more habitations and for democratic dynamics within them. We have produced evidence that the history of the federal student republics is associated with the history of the Escola de Minas and of UFOP, based on a network on influences between the students, ex-students and the institutions. It was during the political opening, which coincided with the expansion of UFOP, that the status of these habitations started to be questioned in an organized manner by the students. Through interviews, analysis of papers’ news and of research on the personal files containing photos and correspondence of militant ex-students on that tendency, we have shown that the discussion around the politics of gestion and of access to the student habitations was present on the schedule of the student movement in Ouro Preto-MG, concomitantly to the expansion of the houses and to the expansion the university itself. The political organization analyzed in our work is “Libelu”, a nickname attributed to “Liberdade e Luta” (Liberty and Fight, free translation), a student organization that acted in Ouro Preto-MG during the 70s and 80s. In interviews with previous members of the student movement we have narrated some specificities and positionings of the group, which was considered, inside the student movement, as a radical tendency that had fundamental agency, especially in the School of Pharmacy, for the political organization of the students of UFOP in the strikes of the period. We have discussed some aspects of student militancy and of political action during the dictatorial period in Brazil, with analysis of elements like fear, oppression, prejudice, and social inequality, which are seen as essential elements for the reflection on the political actions. Methodologically, this work was also narrated in conjunction with elements of the personal experience of the narrator, due to an understanding of this trajectory as a part of the writing and of the historiographical work.
