Para dar início a este percurso, um estudo sobre como o gênero se inscreve no espaço e tempo social é proposto e revela o modo como o corpo carrega em si reflexos de uma sociedade patriarcal. Sob esta perspectiva, uma breve linha histórica da representação feminina na mídia é traçada e investiga de que modo a mulher é representada nos meios de comunicação, em especial, nas revistas femininas. A obra teatral e jornalística de Nelson Rodrigues, bem como a importância da figura da mulher em sua vida particular, também é estudada, em uma tentativa de compreender as influências do processo criativo de suas personagens. Por meio da Análise do Discurso, levantam-se reflexões acerca de como o discurso pode influir nas práticas representativas dentro e fora do jornalismo. Dividido em dois momentos distintos, o estudo examina, na primeira etapa, as crônicas que constituem o consultório sentimental de Nelson Rodrigues, sob o pseudônimo de Myrna, na década de 1950. Na segunda fase, faz uma leitura sobre o atual modo de representar mulheres de destaque na contemporaneidade. A análise revela quais são os anseios, desejos e aspirações femininas e discute se são amplamente contemplados pela mídia na qual se inserem.This dissertation analyzes the female representation in the media. To start its course, a study about how gender goes into social space and time is proposed and reveals the way the body carries on itself the reflexes of a patriarchal society. Under this perspective, a brief historic of female representation in media is traced and investigates how women are presented in communication vehicles, specially, in female magazines. The dramatic and journalist work of Nelson Rodrigues, as the importance of women figures in their private lifes, are also studied, in an attempt to understand the influences on the creative process of his characters. Through the Discourse Analysis, it is intended to raise consciousness about how the speech can influence in the representative practices in and out journalism. Divided in two distinctive moments, the study examines, in its first step, the chronicles that compose Nelson Rodrigues' sentimental collection, under the alias Myrna, in the 1950's. In its second step, it studies the actual way of representing prominent women nowadays.
