Resumo: | This paper deals with the comparison of the variation of /S/ in internal syllable coda in ALiRO’s corpus in relation to other linguistic atlases published in the Northern Region of Brazil. The work follows the theoretical-methodological orientation of Pluridimensional and Relational Dialectology (RADTKE; THUN, 1996), Geosociolinguistics (RAZKY, 1998; 2004; 2010), Quantitative Sociolinguistics (GUY; ZILLER, 2007) and the notion of phonetic grouping (RAZKY; TELLES, COIMBRA, 2019). It was compared data from 62 collaborators distributed among the 16 network points that compose ALiRO’s network with published data from other northern linguistic atlases, namely: ALAM, ALiSPA, ALAP and ALiTTETO. Four realizations of /S/ in internal syllable coda were investigated: alveolar fricative [s], post-alveolar fricative [?], glottal fricative [h] and phonetic deletion [ø]. The comparison of the data showed that /S/ in internal syllable coda constitutes a complex diatopic configuration that allows to trace a progressive dialectal continuum in the North Region. |

Comparative study of variation of /S/ in syllable code position in the state linguistic atlas of North RegionEstudo comparativo da variação do /S/ em posição de coda silábica nos atlas linguísticos estaduais da Região NorteThis paper deals with the comparison of the variation of /S/ in internal syllable coda in ALiRO’s corpus in relation to other linguistic atlases published in the Northern Region of Brazil. The comparison of the data showed that /S/ in internal syllable coda constitutes a complex diatopic configuration that allows to trace a progressive dialectal continuum in the North Region.
