Resumo: The objetive of the study is to analyze Cacau, by Jorge Amado, published in 1933, which reveals aspects of social realism: an aesthetic-literary tendency, which prevailed mainly in the 1920s and 1930s, and which is characterized by criticisms of the structures of capitalista power encouraged the political and socioeconomic oppression of the working class, rural and urban.
