Resumo: This text deals with ongoing research and reflections about organization and the potentials of university archives for the development of the history of education. It argues that there is a need to establish archival policies, therefore, of memory, that encourage the custody, organization and availability not only of the administrative collections that the legislation “orders to be kept”, but also, and above all, collections of an academic-scientific nature, relating to university teaching, research and extension. Therefore, we make an initial exhibition showing the importance of memory places and organization of archives, followed by an explanation about the current configuration of a specific memory center – the Center for Research, Documentation and Memory (CEDOC) of the Faculty of Education, located at UFMG – to, finally, focus on the potentialities of the archive of the Postgraduate Program in Education from UFMG, for researches about the history of Postgraduate and research in Brazil.

Sostiene que existe la necesidad de establecer políticas archivísticas, por tanto, de memoria, que favorezcan la custodia, organización y disponibilidad no sólo de los fondos administrativos que la legislación “ordena conservar”, sino también, y sobre todo, de los fondos propios, de carácter académico científico relacionada con la docencia universitaria, la investigación y la extensión. Para eso, hacemos una presentación inicial sobre la importancia de los lugares de memoria y sobre la organización de los archivos, seguida de una explicación de la configuración actual de un centro de memoria específico – el Centro de Investigación, Documentación y Memoria (CEDOC) de la Facultad de Educación de la UFMG – para, finalmente, enfocarse en el potencial del archivo del Programa de Posgrado en Educación de la UFMG para la investigación sobre la historia del Posgrado y la investigación en el país.Este texto trata de pesquisas e reflexões em curso sobre a organização e as potencialidades dos arquivos universitários para a pesquisa em história da educação. Defende que há a necessidade de se estabelecer políticas de arquivos, logo, de memória, que incentivem a guarda, a organização e disponibilização não apenas dos acervos administrativos que a legislação “manda guardar”, mas também, e sobretudo, acervos de cunho acadêmico-científico relativos ao ensino, à pesquisa e à extensão universitárias.
