Resumo: O presente artigo irá tratar, especificamente, sobre a violência conjugal contra a mulher, praticada por marido ou companheiro, abordando algumas teorias acerca da violência contra as mulheres, entendimentos sobre o instituto da representação como “empoderamento” das mulheres e, ao final, uma reflexão acerca de alternativas para a resolução do conflito evitando a recorrência ao Sistema Penal.
