Visita multiprofissional: implantação e aprendizagem em unidade neonatal de um hospital universitário

The high number of premature and low birth weight newborns is an important health problem with serious medical and social consequences. In order to raise the standard of care in hospital units, such as Neonatal Care, the Unified Health System (SUS), based on the biopsychosocial model of care, recommends a multiprofessional round taking into account the principle of integrality in health and the process of permanent learning in contexts of work. This promising practice is not yet being developed in the neonatal unit of the Hospital Universitário Lauro Wanderley (HULW). In this direction, this research aims to propose a plan to implement the multiprofessional round based on the elaborations produced by the workteam of the HULW Conventional Neonatal Intermediate Care Unit (UCINCo). In this qualitative study, were used participant observation, semi-structured interview and thematic content analysis using the ALCESTE textual data analysis system. The results of the study indicate that there are multidisciplinary practices at UCINCo and the team realizes its importance, but decisions that are centralized in the medical professional still prevail, without an effective discussion with the team. Professionals report the lack of space to share ideas and discuss clinical cases; they believe that the multiprofessional round can remedy this deficiency by improving the quality of patient care and contributing to better team integration, in addition to being an important tool for learning in the field. It was possible to outline an action plan for the implementation of the multiprofessional round at UCINCo – HULW, contemplating the thematic axes put by the team, captured by the content analysis of the statements. It is concluded that the planning and the proposal of implantation of the round, will provide a continuous learning of the team in the construction of more humanized and qualified assistance to the patients, also offering better working conditions to the health professionals.
