The brazilian semi-arid is affected by extreme climatic conditions, in which the low index and the irregularity of the rains are factors that interfere negatively in the development of the region. We found in rainwater collection systems, an important alternative for the region, in which the available water volume can be increased, through the use of the rain regime. The main objective of this work will be to estimate the Potential Volumes of Rainwater Capture (VPC) for the urban area of the municipality of São João do Cariri. These volumes will be estimated based on the proposed use of the city's impermeable surfaces as rainwater catchment areas for non-potable purposes. Such an estimation is important for the adequate dimensioning of cisterns, in order to guarantee the supply of the non-potable water demands of the population during the dry season. Analyzing the demand for water for schools and daycare centers in the city, we conclude that all the need for this resource, for non-potable purposes, can be met through the reuse of rainwater. Finally, the study of surface processes related to runoff and accumulation of rainwater was carried out and the proposal for storage places for this resource was made. The identification of these locations, in addition to the application of adequate storage methods, can mitigate the impacts of water scarcity, contributing to living with the climate.
