Avanços e desafios da sustentabilidade ambiental no Instituto Federal de Sergipe: um estudo de caso do Campus Aracaju.

Resumo: | Education and its institutions have historically developed an important function when fighting against the social crisis and undeniably have a relevant role to accomplish in the contemporary socio-environmental scenery even though they don’t have the power to act singly. The present work is placed at the Federal Institute of Sergipe (IFS) to investigate its educational potential and capacity to renew the models of conscience formation, knowledge and management to answer to the challenge of the socio-environmental crisis in the internal community. Particularly, this research refers to the case of IFS Campus in Aracaju, with the hypothesis that this Campus has incorporated the dimension of environmental sustainability as its goal, but is in a transitional process that needs to be developed, since sustainability is a process. In relation to the interdisciplinarity, educational, environmental, political, social and cultural questions are added. Therefore, the main goal is to evaluate the advance and challenges of IFS Aracaju Campus in the process of knowledge internalization and practice developed in the instructive dimension, of management, and the relationship with the internal public in relation to the environmental issues.To attend this purpose, it was necessary to identify the main actions of sustainability developed at IFS Aracaju Campus oriented toward the community of the Campus; evaluate how well the community is in concern to the developed environmental sustainability projects; identify what are the main ecological problems confronted by the academic community,verify the internal environmental politics about sustainability that were implemented or not. In respect to the methods, a qualitative ethos was used with the supplement quantitative data. The research was divided into three distinctive parts which are related and cause a debate to reach conclusions. First, an documentary and bibliographical analysis was done to verify what is already institutionalized. After that, a study about the data that referred to management of the Campus was done. To make it possible, administrative measures were listed to expose energetic efficiency, the use of water, treatment with the solid residues, and sustainable IFS program. The last part of the research attended the study of the academic community trough the application of questionnaires to certificate the involvement of the institution in the actions of environmental sustainability. The results showed that there isn’t any environmental politic fixed and that the actions developed are punctual. The manager of the Campus revealed that there isn’t any training and sensitization program to the internal community, as well as to the own managers. Such situation spread directly to the involvement of the community who didn’t know the developed actions. Therefore, the suggestion is that an environmental politic of the Campus needs to be formalized. |

A atual pesquisa se detém sobre o Instituto Federal de Sergipe (IFS) para investigar o seu potencial educador e sua capacidade de renovar os modelos de formação de consciências, conhecimentos e de gestão para responder aos atuais desafios de crise socioambiental em sua comunidade interna. Particularmente, esta pesquisa se refere ao caso do Campus do IFS em Aracaju-SE, tendo como hipótese a premissa de que o IFS Campus Aracaju tem incorporado a dimensão da sustentabilidade ambiental em sua missão, mas vive um processo de transição que ainda precisa ser aperfeiçoado, uma vez que a sustentabilidade é um processo. Em relação à interdisciplinaridade conjuga questões educacionais, ambientais, políticas, sociais e culturais. Desse modo, o principal objetivo foi avaliar os avanços e os desafios do IFS Campus Aracaju no processo de internalização dos conhecimentos e práticas desenvolvidas nas dimensões educacionais, de gestão e de relação com o seu público interno em relação às questões ambientais. Para atender a esta proposta, foi preciso identificar as principais ações de sustentabilidade desenvolvidas no IFS Campus Aracaju direcionadas à comunidade interna ao Campus; avaliar o grau de envolvimento da comunidade interna em projetos de Sustentabilidade Ambiental desenvolvidos; identificar quais os principais problemas ambientais enfrentados pela comunidade acadêmica; verificar as políticas internas de Sustentabilidade Ambiental implementadas e não implementadas. Quanto aos aspectos metodológicos foi utilizado uma metodologia qualitativa com uso complementar de dados quantitativos. A pesquisa foi dividida em três momentos distintos que se inter-relacionaram provocando o debate e direcionando as conclusões. Primeiramente, foi feita uma análise bibliográfica e documental a fim de verificar o que já está institucionalizado. Após a análise documental, foi feita a abordagem dos dados referentes à gestão do campus. Para tanto, foram elencadas as medidas administrativas no tocante à eficiência energética, uso da água, tratamento dos resíduos sólidos e programa IFS Sustentável. A última fase da pesquisa contemplou o estudo da comunidade acadêmica através da aplicação dos questionários, a fim de verificar a envolvimento desta nas ações de sustentabilidade ambiental da instituição. Os resultados obtidos demonstraram que não existe uma política ambiental formalizada e que as ações desenvolvidas são pontuais. O gestor do campus revelou que não existem programas de capacitação e nem de sensibilização para a comunidade interna, bem como para os próprios gestores. Tal situação repercutiu diretamente no envolvimento da comunidade que mostrou desconhecer as ações desenvolvidas.
