Resumo: The aim of this work is the development of an energy efficiency indicator for water distribution networks. This indicator makes possible the diagnosis of the hydraulic and energetic behavior of a water distribution network by operators of sanitation companies by comparing the network operation in a reference scenario (in general, the project scenario) and the scenario for which this efficiency is being analyzed. Two water supply networks have been studied in various operational situations, along the useful life of the project, in relation to the pipe transport capacity. Very coherent results have been obtained, allowing the attainment of information to managers and technicians of the supply concessionaires regarding possible rehabilitation intervention needs in the analyzed networks. Two case studies were carried out: one for the water supply network of the city of Itororó, in the Brazilian state of Bahia, and another one for the distribution network in the regions of Bessa, Jardim Oceania and Aeroclube, in João Pessoa, the capital city of the Brazilian state of Paraíba. In both cases, the results verified the validity and relevance of the proposed indicator.

In both cases, the results verified the validity and relevance of the proposed indicator.NenhumaO objetivo deste trabalho é o desenvolvimento de um indicador de desempenho hidroenergético que possibilite o diagnóstico, pelos operadores das companhias de saneamento, do comportamento hidráulico-energético de uma rede de distribuição de água a partir da comparação entre a operação da rede num cenário de referência (em geral, o de projeto) e o cenário cuja eficiência se deseja analisar. Para tanto, duas redes de abastecimento de água foram estudadas em diversas situações operacionais, ao longo da vida útil do projeto, com relação à capacidade de transporte de água das tubulações. Os resultados obtidos foram bastante coerentes, possibilitando a geração de informações aos gestores e técnicos das concessionárias de abastecimento com relação a possíveis necessidades de intervenção de reabilitação nas redes analisadas. Foram elaborados dois estudos de caso: um para a rede de abastecimento da cidade de Itororó (BA), Brasil; e outro para a rede de distribuição dos bairros Bessa, Jardim Oceania e Aeroclube, em João Pessoa (PB), Brasil.
