Resumo: | Introduction: The sexual behavior of riverside women has been changing and is influenced by sociocultural factors, modernity, resulting in possible unfavorable outcomes - unwanted pregnancy, violence, sexual dysfunctions, infections. Objective: To analyze the sexual behavior of riverine women and associated factors. Method: Analytical cross-sectional study, conducted in the municipality of João Pessoa - PB between June and November 2019, with 170 riverside women. Data were collected by an individual interview using a structured form with sociodemographic questions, on sexual behavior through the Study of Sexual Behavior in Brazil (ECOS), for the pattern of alcohol consumption, the Test for Identification of Problems Related to Alcohol Use (AUDIT) and rapid testing for investigation of viral hepatitis B and C, for HIV and syphilis. Data analysis was performed using descriptive statistics and logistic regression. The study was approved by the Research Ethics Committee with opinion number 3.340.273. Results: Most riverine women are in the age group 41-60 years 68 (40.0%), are married or in a consensual union 106 (62.4%), have up to eight years of schooling 162 (95.3%), and live on a monthly income of up to one minimum wage 124 (72.9%). Non-use of condoms in the last year 87 (63.0%) prevailed. Sexual dysfunctions such as pain 47 (34.1%) and loss of interest 46 (33.3%) during sexual intercourse were the most cited. About the quality of sexual life, women classified as "good" 55 (39.9%). Higher education (OR=2.45) and early sexual debut (OR=0.43) increased the likelihood of "good" quality of sex life. The prevalence of excessive alcohol consumption (AUDIT ≥ 8 points) 29.8% (95% CI: 22.1-37.3). Excessive alcohol consumption increases the chances of testing positive for syphilis, according to rapid test positivity (OR=6.54). Conclusion: Sexual risk behaviors contribute to unfavorable health outcomes. Educational strategies should be intensified and incorporated for assertive practices in the prevention of sexually transmitted infections and consequently a better quality of sexual life. |
