The violence against women has been existing for centuries, corresponding to a social and cultural problem and a human rights violation. In Brazil, the women and feminism political actions was inserted into the problematical public scenario from 1970 and brought a dynamic to the implementation of especific public politics to women attendance in violence situation through the dialogue with the State in federal, estadual and municipal sphere. In this context the main goal of this researching is to analise the interface between the gender information policies and the empowerment of social protagonism of women that lived domestic violence along their relationship. The theoretical background is the gender information politics concepts, information mediation, empowerment and social protagonism. The Women Reference Estadual Centre Fátima Lopes, in Campina Grande, Paraíba is the lócus of the researching. The methodological approach has qualitative and quantitative nature and uses the oral history method, having life history as emphasis. As data collect instrument was chosen the interview applied to women in domestic violente situation and to the managers of the Women State and Human Diversity Secretary from Women Reference Estadual Centre Fátima Lopes and from Paraíba Women Delegacies Coordination. The data analysis was made by using preset categories. The outcome of this is the Paraíba State elaboration of gender public policies against the domestic violence according to federal guidelines, in order to help women to break away from continuous domestic violence cycle and making them protagonists of their own history and repudiate the former lived situation. As a conclusion, the informative actions by the violence against women coping network, specially the policies from the Women Reference Estadual Centre Fátima Lopes, has met the women needs of information, wich promotes empowerment and social protagonism. However, it has shown the needy of a strategical information elaboration more integrated in order to promote changing in social and cultural structures toward bring new signification to gender domination schemes and to reach out the women full citizenship.
