The use of innovative methodologies and the inclusion of non-destructive analyzes in assessing the quality of forest seeds has been promising for the development of forestry production. Thus, the objective of this research was to evaluate the efficiency of the X-ray test in Caatinga forest seeds and its relationship with the physiological quality of the seeds before and after passing through the digestive system of goats and sheep. The study was carried out through radiographic analysis of the seeds before and after passing through the digestive system of small ruminants, for which measurements of area, perimeter, circularity, relative density and integrated density of the seeds were obtained. The seeds were submitted to the germination test, in which the variables germination, root protrusion, first germination count, root protrusion speed index, time to reach 50% of germination, average germination time, average germination speed, seedling length, uniformity index, growth and vigor, shoot, root and total dry mass. The use of radiographic images is efficient in the evaluation of the internal morphology of the seeds of forest species in the Caatinga and the variables obtained indicate a relationship with the physiological quality of the seeds. In addition, X-rays are an easy, fast, non-destructive and free technique.
