Resumo: This paper presents a study of the behavior of concrete pole bases under lightning currents and their application as a grounding topology for overhead power distribution lines. For this purpose, electromagnetic and thermal analyzes were performed from measurements, analytical calculations and numerical simulations. Comparisons are presented with results corresponding to typical configurations of grounding topologies practiced by power utilities. The research results point to the fact that in some situations the use of the reinforced concrete pole bases is shown to be a viable and economical alternative to be applied in power distribution grounding systems.

Este trabalho apresenta um estudo do comportamento das bases engastadas dos postes de concreto quando utilizadas como estruturas de aterramento em redes aéreas de distribuição de energia elétrica. O poste tipo duplo T, que é um dos mais empregados nas redes urbanas e rurais foi avaliado, sendo os resultados comparados aos obtidos para aterramentos com hastes verticais, que é a topologia tradicionalmente utilizada pelas concessionárias de energia. Para esse fim, foram executadas medições experimentais e desenvolvidos modelos numéricos e analíticos para determinar a resistência e a impedância transitória de aterramento de ambas topologias, na condição de descarga atmosférica. Além disso, foi feito um estudo térmico mediante modelagem computacional, para verificar se a consequente elevação de temperatura no concreto do poste, devida ao aquecimento provocado pela corrente de surto seria capaz de danificar a estrutura.
