Analysis of Hole Dimensions Influence in Cold-formed Steel Perforated Channel Columns

Resumo: Cold-formed steel structures are an important option to have constructions safe and economic. These steel profiles have high slenderness that leads to characteristic buckling modes, such as the distortional buckling that was recently described and have relatively few studies. Additionally, Cold-formed profiles can have perforations to make connections easier or to accommodate installation of services. These holes may modify the structures behavior and resistance. This work analyzes numerically the influence of these holes and the suitability of a code method adaptation to consider their influence. The results showed that holes reduce lipped-channel columns resistance proportionally to their size, and the viability of code method adaptation to evaluate the column resistance.

Devido à sua esbeltez, estes elementos possuem modos de instabilidade característicos, como a flambagem distorcional, ainda pouco estudada. Além disto, estes perfis podem possuir perfurações para facilitar a montagem ou a passagem de dutos de instalações que modificam o seu comportamento e resistência. Este trabalho avalia numericamente a influência destas perfurações, além de testar a possibilidade da extensão de um método normativo para a previsão da resistência de perfis formados a frio com perfurações.
