The judiciary and the divine law: João Dias de Araújo and labor relations in the Presbyterian Church of Brazil during the civil and military regime

Resumo: This article aims to investigate how pastors and teachers of theological seminaries of the Presbyterian Church of Brazil (IPB), during the 1960s and 1970s, were framed from the labor point of view. This dimension reflected in a series of discourses, practices and norms existing in the Church, largely in tune with the fear of socially widespread communism at the time and the need to combat it within the IPB and its theological training places. This tension resulted in the expulsion of pastors and teachers, culminating in some cases in a long dispute in the Conciliation and Justice Boards involving these professionals, the Church's summit and the direction of these seminars, as happened in Recife with the teacher of the Council Northern Presbyterian Seminary: João Dias de Araújo.

Dimensão que refletiam em uma série de discursos, práticas e normas existentes na Igreja, sintonizadas, em grande medida, com o medo do comunismo difundido socialmente naquele momento e da necessidade de combatê-lo no interior da IPB e dos seus locais de formação teológica.
