Resumo: In this paper the methodology of Oral History is analyzed as a place of convergence between several human and social disciplines that have as a goal the understanding of history through the individual experience and specifically through oral testimony. The relation between Oral History and Neomarxist social history is seen in more detail because both disciplines are interested in the recovery of the history of the lower classes. From this pint on three fundamental aspects are presented: memory, the duality experience-expectative and local identity, as well as the way their principal expositors, José Carlos Sebe Bom Meihy, Brasilian historian, Reinhardt Koselleck , German historian, and Linda Shopes, urban historian, understand these categories. In the last part these categories are used to analyze extracts of interviews belonging to diverse projects.
