Resumo: This article seeks to identify, establish profiles and investigate the life trajectories and mercantile strategies of some of the main slave traders operating in Lisbon between circa 1740 and 1771. I accomplished this through the analysis of the dispatches of goods to Angola registered in the Lisbon Customs House. My main conclusions are that the merchant group engaged in the slave trade was characterized by strong mobility (geographical and economic) and integration with the other merchant circles of the Portuguese Empire.
