Resumo: In this article, we discuss the spaces of presence and insertion of the population of African descent in the city of Laguna (SC) in the first half of the 20th century, based on the analysis of the experiences of the members of two black social clubs, União Operária and Clube Literário Cruz e Souza. For such, we dialogue with the Santa Catarina and regional historiographies. Besides, we use historical sources, such as data from population censuses, Books of Minutes and Statutes of the two clubs, newspapers, maps and old images of the city. By doing so, we intend to present the population of African descent of Laguna and its organization in the urban areas of the city in the aforementioned period.

A análise proposta será realizada com base na discussão com a historiografia catarinense e regional, bem como por meio do uso de fontes históricas, especificamente dados de censos populacionais encontrados no acervo do IBGE- UNIDADE ESTADUAL DE SANTA CATARINA. Utilizamos também como fontes Livros Atas, os Estatutos dos clubes e jornais, mapas e imagens antigas da cidade, com o objetivo de, para além de situarmos a sua configuração geográfica, identificarmos em que espaços as populações de origem africana estavam inseridas no contexto. Pretendemos apresentar a inserção dos afrodescendentes no município de Laguna, e seu peso na população local e no mercado de trabalho.
