Resumo: Resumo: O presente artigo busca discutir a relação de abandono que foi construída com as coleções arqueológicas, de forma específica com a coleção arqueológica do museu Dom Avelar Brandão Vilela, tanto por pesquisadores quanto pela sociedade, bem como, demonstrar que coleções arqueológicas podem ter um aproveitamento científico. Para isso buscou-se conhecer o processo formativo dessa coleção, inventariá-la e levantar seu potencial informativo. Com isso foi possível perceber que as informações contidas nos objetos que compõe essa coleção podem trazer contribuições em diversos campos da arqueologia.Abstract: The present article to argue the abandonment relationship that was constructed with the archaeological collections, specifically with the archaeological collection at the Museum Dom Avelar Brandão Vilela. As well as demonstrating that archaeological collections at the museums have can scientific research. For this, it searched to know the process formative of this collection and considered the inventory of the same one searching to raise its informative potential. With this, it was possible to perceive that the information contained in the objects that this collection composes can bring contributions in diverse fields of archaeology.
