Resumo: This article presents the results of the analyses of the ceramic material collected in the archaeological sites Terra Preta and Urucurituba Velho, located in the region of Autazes (AM). Such results attested the presence of a relevant quantity of material remains, associated to many different ceramic traditions, in the Lower Madeira River region. These findings lead to new discussions about the possible relations of the ceramic remains from the Lower Madeira area, and other regions in the Amazon Basin.

These findings lead to new discussions about the possible relations of the ceramic remains from the Lower Madeira area, and other regions in the Amazon Basin.RESUMO: Este artigo objetiva apresentar os resultados das análises cerâmicas realizadas com o material oriundo dos sítios Terra Preta (UTM central 21M 280715E / 9614954N) e Urucurituba Velho (UTM central 21M 286124E / 9608012N), localizados em áreas do atual município de Autazes (AM). Os resultados dos trabalhos de campo e de laboratório apontaram para a presença de uma relevante quantidade de materiais associados a diferentes tradições encontradas no Baixo Madeira, bem como levaram a indagações sobre possíveis relações entre os conjuntos cerâmicos dessa região com outras áreas da Bacia Amazônica.ABSTRACT: This article presents the results of the analyses of the ceramic material collected in the archaeological sites Terra Preta and Urucurituba Velho, located in the region of Autazes (AM).
