Resumo: This article reflects upon the past as a discursive analytical category, based on Michel Foucault’s theoretical contributions. Through a bibliographical survey and analysis regarding especially the fields of History, Archaeology and Heritage, the purpose is to shed light on the conceptual framework construction of the study of the past, considering recent theoretical developments. As part of a bigger project, this is a text that invites its reader to know and to place some of the key debates surrounding issues as current and problematic as the public management of cultural heritage.
