Resumo: | This paper makes a theoretical dialogue with different meanings on the phenomenon of the homeless population, considering the multiplicity of sociological and anthropological interpretations that try to explain the issue. The discussion is located at the convergence of ethnographic studies on family, popular groups and homeless population, steeped for initial arguments by the author of this essay, from research into men and women living on the streets in downtown Pelotas, Brazil. The debate brings together discussions from a comparative outlook, pointing to connections and continuities - in terms of values, practices and representations - instead of ruptures and specificities between popular culture, family and life on the streets. |

Abstract: This paper makes a theoretical dialogue with different meanings on the phenomenon of the homeless population, considering the multiplicity of sociological and anthropological interpretations that try to explain the issue.
