This text is part of the workshop Homage to Renée Legris in the 85th Colloquium of ACFAS: Représentations des dynamiques urbaines dans la littérature et le cinéma du Québec et du Brésil. Legris was a great researcher of media in Canada, deceased in 2016. The representation of Amerindians in the telefiction of Québec was the theme chosen to underline the importance of Legris’s work. Searching through a corpus of 500 shows, she found only twelve that approached the presence of Indians in Quebec society. With the support of Foucault’s concept of heterotopy and reflections about the process of otherness under the legal term of foreigness/estraneity- extranéité/ estraneidade - we explain the different phases of the problematic integration of the Indians in Quebec society. In Quebecois telefiction Indians are always seen as an Other, as foreign as recent immigrants.
