Este foi composto por uma etapa clínica e outra laboratorial, com avaliações clínicas dos indivíduos, assim como a coleta de material biológico, com o objetivo de estudar os polimorfismos da DEFB1, do VDR, do DC-SIGN, através da reação de polimerase em cadeia em tempo real, e a sua provável associação com a PC em indivíduos diabéticos e em não diabéticos, e envolveu uma amostra de 280 indivíduos, sendo 116 com DM2 e PC, 95 com PC e 69 indivíduos no grupo controle. Os resultados para a população pesquisada apontam que as variações genéticas de DEFB1 (SNP -20: alelo G e genótipos GA e GG) podem estar associadas com uma maior susceptibilidade para o desenvolvimento de PC, em indivíduos diabéticos tipo 2 e não diabéticos. Dos haplótipos formados por SNPs na 5’UTR de DEFB-1 (GCG e ACG), pelo menos dois também podem estar implicados com o aumento dessa susceptibilidade. O genótipo GG do SNP rs4804803 (-336) do DC- SIGN apresentou diferença estatisticamente significativa entre os grupos diabéticos x controle saudáveis (p=0,028), portanto uma menor susceptibilidade ao desenvolvimento de PC em indivíduos portadores de DM2 relacionada ao genótipo GG (rs4804803) de DC-SIGN. . Para o SNP do VDR rs 4516035(GATA) T/C, o alelo C foi mais frequente entre indivíduos DM2 + PC e naqueles apenas com PC, o genótipo CC foi mais frequente entre indivíduos DM2+PC e também no grupo PC, sugerindo uma associação desses genótipos com a proteção à PC, em indivíduos com e sem DM2.Diabetes Mellitus 2 (DM2) and Chronic Periodontitis (PC) have an intimate bidirectional relationship. The Beta Defensin 1 gene (DEFB1) and the DC-SIGN gene have been linked to infectious and autoimmune diseases, while the Vitamin D Receptor (VDR) gene is associated in bone metabolism, all involved in the chronic condition of Periodontitis. This was composed of a clinical and a laboratory stage, with clinical evaluations of the individuals, as well as the collection of biological material, with the objective of studying the polymorphisms of DEFB1, VDR, DC-SIGN, through polymerase chain reaction in real time, and its probable association with CP in diabetic and non-diabetic individuals, and involved a sample of 280 individuals, of whom 116 with DM2 and PC, 95 with PC and 69 individuals in the control group. The results for the population studied indicate that the genetic variations of DEFB1 (SNP -20: G allele and GA and GG genotypes) may be associated with a greater susceptibility to PC development in type 2 and non-diabetic subjects. Of the haplotypes formed by SNPs in the 5'UTR of DEFB-1 (GCG and ACG), at least two may also be implicated in increasing this susceptibility. The genotype GG of SNP rs4804803 (-336) of DC-SIGN presented a statistically significant difference between healthy diabetic x control groups (p = 0.028), therefore a lower susceptibility to PC development in individuals with DM2 related to GG genotype (rs4804803) of DC-SIGN. . For the VDR SNP 4516035 (GATA) T / C, the C allele was more frequent among DM2 + PC individuals and in those with PC alone.
